Title Optimized hydrophobically modified chitosan cryogels for strength and drug delivery systems.
Journal J Biosci Bioeng
Abstract This research reports the success of the fabrication of hydrophobically modified chitosan cryogel. Chitosan was modified with alkyl groups through reductive animation. By varying the alkyl chain length and the substitution degree, the resulting cryogel could be optimized for strength, and the adsorption and release of hydrophobic dye, a model for hydrophobic medicines. By optimizing these attributes, the hydrogel was found to have the potential as a biomedical material.
