| Abstract |
Strain 27052020OT was isolated from a river estuary. The sequence of the strain's 16S rRNA gene showed a close evolutionary relationship with bacteria in the genus Enterovibrio, family Vibrionaceae. The strain's phenotypic and chemotaxonomic features were investigated, revealing that it can be distinguished from the type strains of related Enterovibrio species by its inability to assimilate mannitol. Sequencing revealed that the strain genome consists of two chromosomes (3.52 and 1.48 Mbp), for a total of 4.998 Mbp. Calculations of the average nucleotide identities and results of phylogenetic analyses based on whole-genome sequence data showed that the strain represents a previously unrecognized species in the genus Enterovibrio, for which we propose the name Enterovibrio litoreus sp. nov. with the type strain 27052020OT (=LMG 33508T=JCM 36616T).
